Laura Donoghue, M.A., CCC/L-SLP

Laura is a Speech-Language Pathologist with nearly 30 years of experience. Laura works with children and adults who have difficulty learning to speak or speaking clearly because of structural or neurological differences affecting the mouth. In recent years, Laura’s work has increasingly focused on the functional impact of restricted oral tissues on speech, feeding, and breathing. She also holds a long-standing interest in helping professional voice users improve or preserve their voice.
Laura has dedicated her career to working in healthcare, schools, and private practice settings, more recently spending a decade at the University of Michigan Health’s Briarwood Pediatric Rehab Center as a senior clinician and developed and directed the Childhood Apraxia Treatment (CHAT) program.

In October 2023, Laura opened Ann Arbor Speech & Language Therapy Center, where she prioritizes creating a safe and trusted learning environment, educating patients and families to promote carryover outside the clinic, and identifying and addressing the root causes of a communication disorder – aiming for fewer obstacles and more successes.

Recognizing the ever-evolving nature of healthcare, Laura stays current with the latest research and clinical practices, integrating new knowledge with decades of experience to provide efficient, effective, and individualized care. She has advanced training in Beckman Oral Motor Intervention, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), PROMPT (Levels I and II), and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing (DTTC), and serves as an Ambassador of The Breathe Institute. She is part of a trusted network of providers to ensure each client has access to coordinated, comprehensive care.

Laura has been a member of the Ann Arbor community since 2005, where she raised her three children. Outside the clinic, she enjoys gardening, knitting, traveling with her partner, Scott, and spending time with family, friends, and favorite Golden Retriever, Albert.
